Currently, there is a donation line set up by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lansing (you can find it here). I would like to ask every reader of this page to go to the site. Read Christine's story, and take a moment to donate. Donate a dollar. Do without a Dunkin' Donuts coffee today and give to the fund that will help support Christine's surviving children, who are now facing Christmas with the knowledge that their father murdered their mother and older brother. Give a dollar. If every reader donated a dollar, they would have enough to live on for a year. This is a time of giving, of thinking of others, and these three wee ones are living with Christine's mother now. They desperately need help. Not only is Christine's mother not financially solvent enough to simply take over supporting the children, they cannot even get into the house to get the things they already own. Local friends and family are helping out with hygiene items and clothing and such, but frankly... they need money. The children need to be fed, clothed, and loved.
I am begging each of you to do this. Please. I will be donating as well!
I don't normally make personal pleas in blog posts. It's ... well, usually it's crass. But this has been really difficult for me (and understand, I was only an online friend, someone who talked to her in chat and email and via her blog). I can't even imagine what her mother is going through. No mother should ever have to survive her offspring.
